I couldn't find out where to post this. Feel free to move it if it's in the wrong spot.

I'd like to get peoples opinions on this. Here's the story. My husband is a PO and he got to follow some protestors around the other day to monitor thier activities. He pretty much just filmed and documented what they did.

They are protesting at peoples residences. Somehow found their house address and driving to their house and yelling things for all to hear. Hubby is unsure of who some of the people are, but the one persons house they targeted is the project manager for a new building going up. 1 area of a 10 story building will be used for something related to animal testing. He's not sure to what extent. I just find it odd that they protest the buildings project manager who doesn't have control over who gets to rent spaces. He's just building an office building. They were out there screaming he's a puppy killer cat killer, etc. You need to leave now!
Don't get me wrong, if you choose to want to protest animal testing, more power to ya. I think these people just are protesting the wrong people. They aren't the company that's going to rent the space, nor do they decide who gets to rent.
They've also found out where this guys kids go to school and play sports and have protested outside the school and at sporting events for the kids saying " your dad kills puppies".
I think they step over the line there. To involve the kids is a big no no in my book.

most "extremists" go too far, hence the name.

Groups like PETA and some of the "anti war" protesters step WAYYYYYYYYYY over the line.

Picketing and such at an animal testing facility is one thing. Following a child around and screaming "your daddy kills animals" is something altogether different.

The same goes for those religious zealots that protest at FUNERALS screaming "your son/daughter is gonna burn in hell!!!!!!!!!!!" at the mourning family members.

Respect? Anyone?

Yup. A slow death in boiling oil would be too good for those types.

NOTE: This could have easily remained in chatter. However, I have not used the "move" function yet and I wanted to make sure it worked.

I feel this thread is okay for here or chatter.

Shit. Leave the kids out of it. That's child abuse.

Just goes to show how spoiled and aimless we are in this country -- in places where people don't have enough to eat, or a decent standard of living, they don't disrupt other peoples' lives like this. They're too busy trying to survive themselves.

PETA is weird anyway. They were protesting people outside of LAX once when I was there, yelling the usual fur is murder stuff, and I walked right past them wearing my leather jacket, boots and belt. Some of them had leather sneakers on.

While I think that people ought to be humane when they use animals for food or decoration, expecting us to stop eating meat, or wearing furs, when we've done it for thousands of years just seems kind of silly to me. Treat the animals well before they die, is all I ask.
