My son is 15 and is very interested in UFO's. I want him to make up his own mind on things, so how can I point him to the right direction on it?

Any books, sites or suggestions are very much welcomed. Thanks in advance.

I'm sure Lex can give you MUCH better advice here.

That being said, when I was younger and getting into such things I would read "Chariots of the Gods" and some of the works of Daniel Cohen on the subject. They were pretty simple and to the point without much "speculation" on whether or not ufos/aliens/whatever were 'real' or 'hoaxes'

Agreed.Lex is a ufologist and has been for many years. He knows more about UFO's than anyone I know.
However, when I asked him the same question about the best books to read, I was told to"Read everything, as there is a kernal of truth in all the shit". His saying.
So I do.Read everything. Cross reference what you read.Chances are if the same evidence shows up numerous times, than there is some truth to it. By that, I don't mean numerous books that recount the Barney and Betty Hill abduction story either.
Happy reading!
PS...always research the source of the info as well. Is this something they really believe or saw, or are they just jumping on the bandwagon to make a few bucks?

It'll definitely be a good opportunity to teach him to use critical thinking. Just because someone saw a UFO doesn't mean it's an alien craft, for example.

Exactly, and that's what I want to stress to him. Thanks everyone!

Sorry I'm a bit late posting.
Been here, there and yonder.

Eric von Daniken is a great
author to start with. Easy to
read and usually has pics too.

Beware though, he IS biased.

Another interesting area to look
into is the development of the
Avro-Car. Plenty of info on the net,
and a grand way to learn about
smoke screens. >wink<

Also look Here (http://www.germanufochatter.com/German-Foo-Fighters/index.html).
Quite an interesting site. (hope teh link works)

And never, ever forget Groom Lake.

On a more cryptic side, rumor has it that
we are flying some air-frames from an
island off the coast of Ireland, and from
somewhere in Australia. Some enticement
for a budding researcher. :)

Oh yeah....Utah is another place to nose
around. :)

Hope this helps, and a humble thanks
to those that recommended me.

Regards,
Lex

Heh.

I am humbled daily, trust me.

Here (http://home.pacbell.net/joerit/docs2/crash/crshlist.htm) is some interesting reading/researching for a new ufologist
to dig in to.

Enjoy,
Lex
