Some must read resources for any discussion regarding Atlantis:

Plato's dialogues, found on www.sacred-texts.com

Timaeus (http://www.sacred-texts.com/cla/plato/timaeus.htm)

Critias (http://www.sacred-texts.com/cla/plato/critias.htm)

Information on Plato and Solon,

Plato: wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plato)

Solon: wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solon)

A couple of good if somewhat outdated books.

Project Gutenburg,
The Antediluvian World by Ignatius Donnelly (http://www.gutenberg.org/dirs/etext03/7ataw11.txt)

And this the follow up,
RAGNAROK: THE AGE OF FIRE AND GRAVEL BY IGNATIUS DONNELLY (http://www.sacred-texts.com/atl/rag/index.htm)

I havent linked to any of Blavatsky or Cayces writings or other "channellers", easy enough for you to find them with google if you want to rely on "channelled" information. :)

Some of the Atlantis theory's and locations, just as a general guide.

Atlantis: Antarctica (http://www.vb-tech.co.za/Antartica/myths1.htm)

Atlantis: Thera (Santorini) (http://www.uri.edu/endeavor/thera/index.html)

Atlantis: Caribbean (http://www.atlantisinsights.net/Carib.htm)

www.world-mysteries.com (http://www.world-mysteries.com/)

www.theatlantisproject.org (http://www.theatlantisproject.org/)

Found this site which is pretty cool. You can dial in a value to raise or lower the sea level to see what changes in topography you will get, perfect for the serious Atlantis researcher.

merkel.zoneo.net (http://merkel.zoneo.net/Topo/Applet/)

These java applets calculate the effect of a change in sea level on the topography for different regions of the world, such as Europe, Japan, the United States, South-East Asia or France.
Input a value for the change of sea level (negative values for a decrease in sea level, positive value for an increase) in the left entry, the program recalculates the map of the region of interrest and adjusts the color scale.

I hope these links are helpful in your search for Atlantis!

Strange.

I went ahead and stickied this one for ya.

The other must have took because it was stickied when I just checked it.

Let me know if this continues to be a problem.

Could have just been a one/two time thing.

Jasn

EDIT TO ADD: DOH!! I stickied the other one too.

Yea, I'm an idiot.

I'll check the admin panel out and see if I need to give you "permission" to sticky.

Are you even seeing the option down there??

http://amkon.net/forum/viewforum.php?f=38 , here in the sub forum i see the yellow, brown and grey buttons at the bottom of the page that say new posts, sticky, no new posts etc but their not clickable, when i click on "You can moderate this forum" at the bottom right of the page the only things it seems i can do are "Delete, Move, Lock or Unlock" posts or threads.
Not that i want more to do or anything.

That's strange.

I have permissions set for mods to be able to sticky.

Let me do some reading and see if I am missing something.

Jasn

EDIT:

Do you see "Options" just above the option to include a poll? It should have the following and you should be able to click the radio button next to sticky to pin the thread.

Are you trying to sticky it on the OP?

These are the options.

By Zach Howard – Sat Mar 12, 11:36 am ET
NORTHAMPTON, Mass (Reuters) – A U.S.-led research team may have finally located the lost city of Atlantis, the legendary metropolis believed swamped by a tsunami thousands of years ago in mud flats in southern Spain.
"This is the power of tsunamis," head researcher Richard Freund told Reuters.
"It is just so hard to understand that it can wipe out 60 miles inland, and that's pretty much what we're talking about," said Freund, a University of Hartford, Connecticut, professor who lead an international team searching for the true site of Atlantis.
To solve the age-old mystery, the team used a satellite photo of a suspected submerged city to find the site just north of Cadiz, Spain. There, buried in the vast marshlands of the Dona Ana Park, they believe that they pinpointed the ancient, multi-ringed dominion known as Atlantis.
The team of archeologists and geologists in 2009 and 2010 used a combination of deep-ground radar, digital mapping, and underwater technology to survey the site.
Freund's discovery in central Spain of a strange series of "memorial cities," built in Atlantis' image by its refugees after the city's likely destruction by a tsunami, gave researchers added proof and confidence, he said.
Atlantis residents who did not perish in the tsunami fled inland and built new cities there, he added.
The team's findings will be unveiled on Sunday in "Finding Atlantis," a new National Geographic Channel special.
While it is hard to know with certainty that the site in Spain in Atlantis, Freund said the "twist" of finding the memorial cities makes him confident Atlantis was buried in the mud flats on Spain's southern coast.
"We found something that no one else has ever seen before, which gives it a layer of credibility, especially for archeology, that makes a lot more sense," Freund said.
Greek philosopher Plato wrote about Atlantis some 2,600 years ago, describing it as "an island situated in front of the straits which are by you called the Pillars of Hercules," as the Straits of Gibraltar were known in antiquity. Using Plato's detailed account of Atlantis as a map, searches have focused on the Mediterranean and Atlantic as the best possible sites for the city.
Tsunamis in the region have been documented for centuries, Freund says. One of the largest was a reported 10-story tidal wave that slammed Lisbon in November, 1755.
Debate about whether Atlantis truly existed has lasted for thousands of years. Plato's "dialogues" from around 360 B.C. are the only known historical sources of information about the iconic city. Plato said the island he called Atlantis "in a single day and night... disappeared into the depths of the sea."
Experts plan further excavations are planned at the site where they believe Atlantis is located and at the mysterious "cities" in central Spain 150 miles away to more closely study geological formations and to date artifacts.

Has the real lost city of Atlantis finally been found...

It has remained a tantalising mystery for thousands of years, but now a U.S. led research team believes it has found the legendary lost city of Atlantis.
They claim to have pinpointed the exact location of the metropolis under mud flats in southern Spain.
The team of archaeologists and geologists are convinced that Atlantis -swamped by a tsunami - is submerged just north of Cadiz.

Professor Richard Freund of the University of Hartford, Connecticut, who lead the international team, said: 'This is the power of tsunamis.
'It is just so hard to understand that it can wipe out 60 miles inland, and that's pretty much what we're talking about.'
The team used a satellite photo of a suspected submerged city to find the site then surveyed it with a combination of deep-ground radar, digital mapping, and underwater technology.

Buried in the vast marshlands of the Dona Ana Park they found a strange series of 'memorial cities,' built in Atlantis' image by the refugees who fled the destructive tsunami.
Atlantis residents who did not die built new cities inland, claimed Freund.

The team's findings will be unveiled on Sunday in 'Finding Atlantis,' a new National Geographic Channel special.

Freund said the 'twist' of finding the memorial cities makes him confident Atlantis was buried in the mud flats.

He said: 'We found something that no one else has ever seen before, which gives it a layer of credibility, especially for archaeology, that makes a lot more sense.'

Atlantis has been 'discovered' many times in the past.

In 1997, Russian scientists claimed to have found it 100 miles off Land's End.
Three years later, a ruined town was found under 300ft of water off the north coast of Turkey in the Black Sea.

An American architect used sonar in 2004 to reveal man-made walls a mile deep in the Mediterranean between Cyprus and Syria.

In 2007, Swedish researchers claimed the city lay on the Dogger Bank in the North Sea, which was submerged in the Bronze Age.

And as recently as February of this year, what appeared to be grid-like lines that resembled city streets were spotted on Google Earth - in the ocean off the coast of Africa.

Sadly Google itself quickly debunked the suggestion, explaining that the lines were left by a boat as it collected data for the application.
