Do you believe in real Vampires?

Do you believe that Vampires exist in one form or another?
Or are they just make believe fiction spawned from legends and literature?

I think they fall somewhere in between. There are certainly diseases that account for the "lore" surrounding vampires such as sensitivity to sunlight and vitamin d, garlic allergies, strong desire for blood and I know I would be a goner if someone staked me in the heart, cut my head off AND burned me (but it requires all three. In that sense, I'm much like Rasputin)

The only part of vampire lore that REALLY fascinates me is the immortality. While I don't necessarily think that ETERNAL life is possible, I do believe that we have the capability to live to EXTREME old age and maintain good health (say 2000 years)....and I also believe that some have done so and possibly continue to do so.


Oh yea, and I dig the Vampire Chronicles.

Obviously, for me, I have been fascinated by Vampires since I was a little girl.When halloween came around,I dressed up as a Vampire every year.No shit.
I read every Vamp story I can find.(and there are many new ones lately)
I watch all the movies.
It's not just about the blood and gore for me though.(yep gonna get sappy here).
It is the romanticism of it all.
Do I believe in Vampires? Yes.Do I believe they are immortal? No.But..Iam very open to being proven wrong.

In my honest opinion, anyone who was immortal or lived to extreme old age would give up any sort of romanticism, love, caring and/or compassion fairly early in their life.


It would be impossible to outlive everyone and everything you loved or cared for and to maintain an ability to love and/or care.

Do I believe in Vampires? Kinda, I admit that there could be some fact behind the myths, but I do not support the idea of the imortal blood drinking dracula type.

They DO exist , just not in the movie vampire way.Most of the "real" vampires around call themselves Sanguinarians. I ran into some of them on IRC a few times.

They generally believe that they have some sort of disease or lack of something in themselves that "forces" them to live that lifestyle.

Some of them consider it a fetish , so I guess the sex is all it's about for some of them.

Then there are a whole lot of posers and role players that just think it's cool.

The whole blood thing really isn't my cup o tea, but besides that they seemed like fairly good people.

As far as the legendary vampires go....well there is a lot of info on the net,and we all know the legends. It would be awesome if it were true though , guess that's the catch.

There is supposed to be a documentary out about this guy who spends 30 days (or some term) with a group of "real" vampires.

Aptly enough, it's call "Vampyres"


If I run across it again, I'll be sure to watch it and get you guys some links to snag it.


From the few reviews I've read, it's supposed to be HORRIBLE.........in the sense that these ppl kidnap REAL ppl and mutilate them for the cameras.

One reviewer was saying something about the prosecutions that have arisen from this film. Though, ppl tend to lie.

Anyway , thanks for the info Jasn. I found that Vampyres documentary, so I'll probably check it out later tonight. Honestly though, after reading your description of it, I'm a bit wary.

Oh well never stopped me in the past. I'll let ya'll know later what I thought of it.

Ummm .. as for Vampires ....... I believe they've existed ... but .. that the whole "race" died out a long time ago ........ ummm.... I'm datin' a "vampire" right now .... and to tell ya the truth ....I'm lovin' it :D ......... I'm not even gonna touch on all the sexual stuff that goes with vamps :lol: ......
